Ontruck celebrates its third anniversary as it launches operations in France

Madrid, 6th February 2019.- Ontruck, the Spanish regional road goods transport agency, has taken a new step forward in its international expansion strategy by launching operations in France. The company, who this year celebrates its third anniversary, has opened offices in Paris to provide their innovative short-distance transport solutions across the Île-de-France region. As a central hub for infrastructure surrounded by areas of major production and consumption, Paris will serve as Ontruck’s gateway into the French regional freight market.

France becomes the third European destination to avail of Ontruck’s innovative services as it continues to build out it’s EU network. “After a year of successful operations in the United Kingdom, during which we were able to significantly grow and establish our foothold as a new and innovative player in the regional transport ecosystem on British roads- we were eager to continue to grow our European presence. We are very excited with this new challenge and we hope to maintain the warm and welcoming reception that we have received during our first few weeks in Paris”, says Iñigo Juantegui, CEO and co-founder of the company.

As of last November, Ontruck fulfilled its first load in the neighbouring country and presents itself with full traction capacity in the emerging French market. Today it already counts on a considerable team of local hauliers who are duly audited and who use their app from their phones to get to know businesses’ load demands and accept those which best adapt to their circumstances, in relation to their available space, route and geographical localization. Moreover, in just a few weeks they have been able to capture the interest of top level companies, who have become their first clients.

In France more than 2,000 million tonnes of palletised goods are moved by road each year. “It is this mode of transport where efficiency suffers the most. Our objective is to ensure that the companies who need to send palletised goods find the best hauliers to do so optimising the existing resources to distribute the flow of goods across the supply chain more effectively,” explains Nicolas Lubeth, Head of Operations in France.

Paris is among the top ten cities in the world with the highest amount of traffic congestion, according to the INRIX Global Traffic Scorecard. Ontruck’s routes and loads optimisation system will contribute in reducing empty journey rates, alleviating this situation as well as reducing fuel consumption and lowering CO2 emissions. Ontruck is supported by its shareholders as well as the outstanding involvement of French investors: Cathay Innovation, Idinvest Partners and Total Energy Ventures. The presence of such a strong local investor base was also a determining factor when choosing the French market as Ontruck’s second hub for international expansion after launching in the United Kingdom in 2018.
